He hadnât made any progress in finding her. Bitch! She had his money and his kid. Heâd had to go to his mother for a loan to get his creditors paid. All the time heâd taken off work to deal with this, along with the money sheâd cleared out of his account, had left him short of funds. Heâd finally figured out how sheâd been able to get several thousand out of his account without him knowing. Sheâd worked out that he used his usual password of his motherâs maiden name for his online banking and Drewâs birthday as the PIN. Yes, he knew he was supposed to change them and not use the same for everything, but who on earth had time to do that? Sheâd shifted funds out of his business account into the joint one he had her named on. They only used it for the shopping and day-to-day expenses, so there was never much in it, but because there were regular transfers in, it hadnât pinged his phone as an unusual transaction. Sheâd then been into the branch to withdraw the money, and of course, as she was on the account, it had let her. Sheâd acted quickly tooâdone the transfer and the withdrawal all the day before she went. She must have been planning it for a while, probably checked that she could get into the account online first, then plotted her escape.
Heâd not been chasing up the customers who owed him, his eye off the ball while he sorted all this out, and now he was the one left struggling. But he was back in business now and he was going to work every hour of the day and fight back on this. He wasnât going to take this.
Sheâd be dragged back by the courts with her tail between her legs. He was going for full custody. She wasnât fit to look after a child on her own. Heâd get custody and sheâd have to come crawling back to him because she wouldnât have any other way of seeing her child if she didnât.
Time she learned she couldnât mess around with a man like him after heâd given her everything. Sheâd be nowhere without him. Probably half dead in some drug den, pimped out to get a fix. Thatâs where sheâd been headed when he met her. And look what heâd given her! A proper family life, a good home, a child, and a husband who brought the money home and never cheated on her.
And that hadnât been enough for her.
His mother was furious when he told her.
âI told you she was trash! Donât you let her get away with this, Danny!â
âOh, she wonât, Mum. Just as soon as Iâm on my feet again, Iâll deal with her, donât you worry.â
âCanât you let her go and find a better woman? Youâd have your pick. Why does it have to be her? Let her go, Danny, and find someone worthy of you. A girl from a proper background who knows how to behave.
